The idea was to treat the bear like the rock: same colors, same texture, so the two blend into one. Bears sometimes sit in ways that feel almost human, almost thoughtful. This scene is from northern Arizona, near the Colorado border, where my friend Randy Babb once gave a talk on conservation.
